This part was the problem, excellent replacement
August 7, 2017
Reviewer: Jon from Youngwood, PA United States
This metal replacement piece is excellent. It turned out to be the problem as the original plastic sliders were snapped. The instructions, described in another review as spartan, were very basic. Almost too basic. Pictures would help. Luckily, i was able to contact customer service because i was stuck. If it wasnt for his advice on removing the cables, i may not have been able to complete this job. (I actually installed everything back in my car to find out that i didnt install the cables that move the sunroof. I had to remove everything a second time to figure out why it didnt work).
Because of the inadequate instructions, i'm giving the part 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise, the kit was complete and the replacement part is awesome. My sunroof works, it works well, and i saved a lot of money compared to what a dealership would charge. I would recommend having some know-how as to navigating and removing interior parts/pieces in your car b4 attempting this job.

parts worked great!!!

I was a bit hesitant in jumping in to this with never removing a headliner before, but it seemed like the best was was to try, so I did. Delivery was as expected and packaged well. The entire job took an evening and a morning. I planned it this way so that the silicone had overnight to dry. All went very well with the installation, but my only suggestion and why I couldn't give 5 stars were the instructions. All information was there, but they could have been a bit clearer and pictures would have helped tremendously. Company was very helpful over the phone with explaining where confusion was. For example, I was given six pop rivets and only needed 2... My concern what are the other 4 used for. Guy on phone told me there extra, and that's nice, but original thought was what am I missing.
Overall great product, just put a bit of work into the instructions. Now my sunroof that hasn't worked for two years now works again. Thanks.

2001 Escape Sun/Moon Roof Repaired
June 21, 2014

This was not for the faint of heart or technically inept, but follow the instructions, take your time and the simple repair kit totally works. First, the instructions are Spartan, but as I completed each step, the purpose became clear. There are no extra words thrown in there, but trust them to be right. Second, the repair kit is high quality and complete. New grease, silicone, swabs, rivets - complete. My first reaction was why all these bits? They are all needed. I was quite convinced about 4 hours in the parts I was replacing were not going to actually fix the window, but they did. Finally, ease that window back in. Work the system without the window until everything is right. Take the motor out and work the tracks and make sure the mechanicals are all the way forward MANUALLY before you bolt that window in. Very satisfying to be done. It's a full day job with the roof liner removal and all. Ingenious fix guys!

Parts are great much better than the cheap plastic factory parts. The repair is pretty straight forward all though you should have some mechanical ability as this job is not for everyone. The instructions would be better if it had pictures but it was easy enough without pictures. My only complaint was with the price of shipping. The parts are $135 and this is the only place I could find the parts so what are you going to do. But I paid $23 for shipping and when I checked out it said it was UPS. After the order was placed I was given a USPS tracking number. I received the parts from USPS in a small flat rate shipping box. USPS charges $5.35 at the post office or %5.15 online and they give you the box not sure where the other $18 came from. If you want to charge $153 for the part just do it don't disguise it with inflated shipping charges. If not for the high shipping cost would be a five star product. I would recommend just be aware the actual price is $153 plus $5 shipping.

I must say over the factory original part the replace part from TG Automotive is a much more superior part. The original was made of plastic as opposed to TG's aluminum. I've done lots of European sunroof repairs over the years and would say this one wasn't any harder than them. I didn't like removing the interior headliner but with that aside the job was straight forward. I'm sorry to say I never read the instructions but sure they would be helpful if needed.
